The East Plantation tour
will amaze you.
Destrehan is the oldest documented
plantation home in the lower Mississippi Valley.
You will be chaperoned around the house by a person dressed in historically
accurate costume, and you will see demonstrations of candle making and
dyeing indigo. San Francisco Plantation was built in 1856 it incorporates five artistically hand painted
ceilings, faux marbling, and faux wood graining throughout and antique
furniture. Houmas House will astound you with it's beautiful
gardens. In 1964, "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" was filmed in there,
and "All My Children" in 1981. You will enjoy lunch at The Cabin
Restaurant, where lunch will be served in 100 year old slave cabins.
There is a selection of Po-Boys, world famous chicken, andouille gumbo, and
specially prepared seafood.
