Enjoy a relaxing and educational walk through the Garden District, which is one of New Orleans most desirable residential areas. The Garden District was originally a suburb located on a sugar plantation. The beautiful gardens originated from a flood that occurred in 1816. This flood brought a new layer of heavy sediment filled with nutrients encouraging the foliage growth that later became the Garden District. A licensed tour guide will show you elegant Greek revival and Italianate architecture buildings in the Garden district. You will see one of Anne Rice's Homes, the author Interview with the Vampire. You will then proceed to Lafayette Cemetery, where you learn about the above ground burial customs.
(Cemetery will be closed Saturday afternoons, Sundays and a few holidays) TOUR # 8: Garden District Walking Tour $25/person with pick up from your New Orleans based hotel $18/person if you meet us at outside the Tourism Bureau (2020 St. Charles Ave.) 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM OR 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
